Forensic Accountant - Litigation

Description of Position:
Responsibilities of the Forensic Accountant will include complex fraud investigations, fraud risk assessments and research relative to corporate and personal assets.  This position requires one to work closely with BlumShapiro professionals and clients of all levels on a regular basis.

Required Skills:
Strong analytical skills.  Excellent communication and presentation skills.  Ability to think outside the box.  Project management.  Team orientated.  Demonstrated general and forensic accounting experience.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related degree.  A minimum of two to three years experience working in forensic accounting.  CPA, CFE and/or CFF highly desirable.

Microsoft Technology Consultant - West Hartford

The Microsoft Technology Consultant will provide general development expertise and application development talent for the successful delivery of Microsoft platform solutions. They will work directly with clients and project teams in the overall application design and development of the solution. 


Major Responsibilities

  • Utilize experience with Visual Studio 2008/2010 and .NET Framework 2.0/3.0/3.5/4.0 to deliver solutions built on Microsoft platform technologies including methodologies such as Object Oriented Design (OOD), Object Oriented Programming (OOP).
  • Work with partners and clients to develop an overall solution vision and effectively communicate initiatives with the entire project team.
  • Communicate and present ideas and solutions to project sponsors, client team members and stakeholders. 
  • Assist in solution design and implementation best practices leadership throughout the full life cycle of one or more solution implementations.
  • Work with diverse and distributed teams in a collaborative manner regardless of assigned role or reporting lines.
  • Capture, integrate, communicate, educate, and apply the knowledge, experiences, and lessons-learned that are acquired from each engagement.
  • Some NE regional travel may be required but is not extensive.

Qualifications

  • 1+ years of implementing custom applications on the Microsoft platform in a hands-on consulting role for medium to large sized corporations across a broad range of industries.
  • Specific experience with Visual Studio 2008/2010 and .NET Framework 2.0/3.0/3.5/4.0 and Microsoft SQL Server is a must.
  • Experience with or exposure to the following products (SharePoint, SQL Server 2005/2008/2008R2, BizTalk 2006/2009/2010) is a major plus!
  • Familiarity with Windows 2003/2008 operating system, its security model, and IIS.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills required.
  • Superior interpersonal, team building and leadership skills required.
  • Bachelor's degree in related discipline preferred.

Senior Systems Analyst, Information Technology – Shelton

Description of Position:

The Senior Systems Analyst’s role is to ensure the stable operation of BlumShapiro’s in-house computer network. This includes planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting and optimizing all network hardware, software and communication links. The Senior Systems Analyst will also analyze and resolve end user hardware and software computer problems in a timely and accurate fashion.  End user training will be provided, as necessary.

Responsibilities:

Strategy & Planning

  • Assist in preparing, maintaining and upholding procedures for logging, reporting and statistically monitoring system performance.
  • Accurately document instances of hardware failure, repair, installation and removal.
  • Assist in developing long-term strategies and capacity planning for meeting future technology needs.
  • Support development and implementation of new systems projects and new hardware installations.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of hardware and equipment contracts and supervise contract-based installations.
  • Aid in development of business continuity and disaster recovery plans and respond to crises in accordance with business continuity and disaster recovery plans.

Acquisition & Deployment

  • Oversee installation, configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of end user workstation hardware, software and peripheral devices.
  • Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers and contractors to secure network products and services.
  • Conduct research on network products, services, protocols and standards in support of network procurement and development efforts.

Operational Management

  • Provide training and support to end users and staff on computer operation and other issues.
  • Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor and troubleshoot end user/network hardware, software, networked peripheral devices, and networking hardware products.
  • Manage security solutions, including firewall, anti-virus and intrusion detection systems.
  • Provide support and reporting for the firm’s internal phone system.
  • Assist the Firm’s management in developing new methodologies to gain efficiencies while better utilizing technology.
  • Analyze system, server, application, network, and input/output device performance.
  • Recommend, schedule, and perform software and hardware improvements, upgrades, patches, reconfigurations and/or purchases.
  • Provide guidance to junior members of the team, as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science/related discipline or 3 years equivalent work experience.
  • Working technical knowledge of network, PC and platform operating systems, including Microsoft Windows 7, Server 2008, Cisco IOS, Mitel
  • Extensive application support experience with Microsoft Exchange, Sharepoint, SQL and Citrix.
  • Strong knowledge of local area network administration.
  • Hands-on software and hardware troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience documenting and maintaining configuration and process information.
  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills.
  • Skilled at working within a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
