General Experience Highlights
As a partner in our Litigation Services and Business Valuation Group, Mark has over 17 years of experience in business valuations for a variety of purposes including business planning and succession, shareholder disputes, buy/sell agreements, financial reporting, mergers and acquisitions, gifting interests, estate planning, taxation, matrimonial dissolutions, mergers and acquisitions, restructurings and reorganizations and litigation support services. He provides business valuation for a wide variety of assets including businesses, business interests, family limited partnerships, debt instruments, equity securities, intangible assets and operating units.
Prior to joining BlumShapiro, Mark was Vice President at Knox & Co., an investment banking and corporate advisory firm in Westport, Connecticut. He was the financial advisor on over 15 mergers and acquisitions and headed the company’s valuation practice. Mark was also the financial advisor on over 25 restructurings, reorganizations and related consulting assignments, including lead banker on several transactions. Prior to Knox & Co., Mark was a Senior Tax Consultant with Deloitte & Touche, LLP. He provided tax compliance and planning services to corporate clients with combined revenues in excess of a billion dollars.
Mark was elected partner in January 2013.
Professional Education and Firm History
Mark received a Bachelor in Business Administration from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 1992, majoring in Accounting. He received a Juris Doctorate and Master in Business Administration from Pace University in 1997 and 2002, respectively. His MBA concentration was in Taxation. Mark became a Certified Public Accountant in 2000. He became Accredited in Business Valuation and Certified in Financial Forensics by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants in 2006 and 2008, respectively. He has also been a licensed attorney in Connecticut since 1998. He previously served as Vice President of Knox & Co. and as a Senior Tax Consultant with Deloitte & Touche, LLP. Mark joined BlumShapiro as a manager in 2007.
