WEST HARTFORD – July 25, 2019 – blumshapiro, the largest accounting, tax and business advisory firm based in New England with offices in Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island, announced today that Francis J. Nemia has joined blum’s Advisory Group as partner.   He will be based out of blum’s Boston, Massachusetts office beginning July 25.

Nemia will manage blum’s ERM (Enterprise Risk Management) Advisory Services practice. In his role, he will lead a multi-disciplined group of experts focused on the needs of each client’s business risk environment. Using blum’s proven methodology and approach, Nemia’s team will develop a deeper understanding of each client’s business strategy, processes, systems, external environment, organizational culture and other factors enabling them to proactively assess the current and potential risks and develop complimentary solutions to minimize and mitigate their exposure.

Prior to joining blumshapiro, Nemia served as Managing Director of Linium Consulting where he brought structure to its go-to-market effort, executed client-facing roles in the Digital Operations Practice and established internal operational efficiencies in support of organizational growth.  Prior to that, Nemia spent 28 years at Ernst & Young LLP where he multitasked as New England Advisory Market Leader and Executive Team Member, Global Coordinating Services Partner and Regional Advisory Quality Partner.

Nemia currently serves an adjunct professor of Accounting Information Systems at Boston College.  He is an advisory board member of North Hill Retirement Community in Needham, MA and a board member of the 160 East 27th Street Owners Corporation in New York City.  His prior board service includes Wellesley Historical Society, Loyola School NYC, Urban League of Greater Hartford and Connecticut Sports Foundation Against Cancer.

Nemia received his BS in Accounting from Boston College, MBA in Accounting/Finance from Fordham University’s Gabelli School of Business and EY Partner Executive Program from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.
