BlumShapiro says it has filled 48 full-time and intern slots in its New England offices since the start of the new year.

The West Hartford auditing-business consultancy says offices that benefited include West Hartford and Shelton, CT; Newton and Quincy, MA; and Cranston, RI.

BlumShapiro CEO Joseph A. Kask said the new employees would “add to the economic vitality and community spirit” of the regions where they live and work.

According to Sara Bell, the firm’s chief human resources officer, a large part of the firm’s staff expansion can be attributed to its very extensive college recruiting process.

During the recruiting period from late August to November, Bell said the firm attends career fairs, facilitates presentations, participates in scholarship programs, and interviews hundreds of college students from 16 area higher-education institutions in the New England region for its internship program and staff roles.
