WEST HARTFORD, CT – blumshapiro, the largest regional business advisory firm based in New England with offices in Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island, has been selected as a gold level Healthy Workplace Employer by the Business Council of Fairfield County. blum and other companies were recognized at a ceremony on Thursday, February 14, at the Stamford Marriott Hotel & Spa.
The Healthy Workplace Employer Recognition Program was established eleven years ago to highlight the efforts of employers who understand the competitive advantage of a healthy workforce. The recognition program is presented by The Business Council’s Health, Wellbeing and Safety Roundtable, with the leadership support of USI Insurance Services and UnitedHealthcare of CT, Inc. and assistance from ConnectiCare and Aon.
“Much like investing in your financial future, investing in your health can also yield dividends. Employers and employees share responsibility for protecting and strengthening future physical and mental wellbeing,” commented Matthew Fair, vice president, USI Insurance Services and co-chair of the Healthy, Wellbeing and Safety Roundtable. “A culture of wellness may start with an individual, but it is truly a team effort. Our 2019 Healthy Workplace honorees are being recognized for working collectively to achieve their goals of educating and motivating their workforce to take stock of and responsibility for their health.”
“blumshapiro is proud to be recognized with other organizations that have embraced the mission of life-changing access to preventive health care in the workplace. We are proud that we have achieved tremendous success in attracting remarkably high employee participation,” said Joseph A. Kask, chief executive officer of blumshapiro.
“At blum we build leaders and with doing so, we have created a culture that also supports employee health, well-being and engagement both in the workplace and in their personal lives. Our ability to lead our clients toward their best future is the result of continually striving to realize ours.”
blum’s workplace wellness programs transform employees by combining a thorough health evaluation supported by a wide range of technology tools and interactive sessions. blum has found that meaningful engagement, coupled with features that attract a high level of participation among employees, directly translates into better health outcomes; proof-positive that companies can both seek and achieve the goal of a healthy workforce.
“blum is committed to providing our employees a work environment that not only encourages healthy lifestyles and smart choices while in the office, but also offers them tools to champion their own well-being and make lasting behavior changes outside the workplace,” said Sara Bell, CHRO, SHPR, SHRM-SCP, chief human resource officer at blumshapiro. “We’ve designed programs that focus on the long-lasting health of our employees by helping them achieve their health goals one step at a time. blum continues to innovate and adapt to create flexible programs that achieve the best results, which are exemplified through the success of this award.”
This year, 57 companies were honored by The Business Council for their wellness achievements by four categories of distinction – Platinum, Gold, Silver and Innovation – awarded on the basis of program components and outcomes.
