WEST HARTFORD, CT – blumshapiro, the largest regional business advisory firm based in New England, with offices in Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island, has announced Mary Kay Curtiss, a partner leading the firm’s non-profit practice, has been appointed to serve on the Board of Directors at both the Connecticut Council for Philanthropy and the Greater Hartford Arts Council.

Mary Kay began her career with blumshapiro in 1999 and was elected as a partner in 2011. As a partner in the firm’s Non-Profit Services Group, Mary Kay provides audit services to a wide range of non-profit organizations, including private and community foundations, membership- and admission-driven organizations, human service agencies, healthcare providers and educational institutions. Mary Kay also serves as Treasurer for the blumshapiro Foundation and runs the grant selection committee.

The Connecticut Council for Philanthropy represents private, corporate and community giving programs, bank trusts, donor-advised funds, individual philanthropists and those serving the philanthropic sector in Connecticut. CCP members annually grant more than $1.2 billion from assets of more than $8.2 billion.

The Greater Hartford Arts Council provides critical financial and organizational resources to support the region’s arts and cultural sector. The organization offers more than 600 free community performances every year, reinforces high school curriculum for more than 100,000 students, and supports more than 7,000 jobs across the state.

Mary Kay earned her B.A. from Gettysburg College and her Master of Science in Professional Accounting from the University of Hartford Barney School of Business. She also completed the ExcEL Leadership Program at Duke University.
