Taxpayers who receive an Economic Impact Payment this year should also receive Notice 1444: “Your Economic Impact Payment” (within 15 days after you have received your payment). This notice has important information regarding the amount of the payment and how the payment was made, as well as what to do if your payment wasn’t received or was received in the wrong amount.
As with other important tax information, we recommend that you keep this document with other paperwork needed to file your 2020 tax returns, such as W-2s from employers, 1099s from banks and other payers, other income documents and virtual currency transaction records. When a recipient’s 2020 tax return is being prepared, Notice 1444 can be referred to for claiming additional credits if eligible. Therefore, you will need to provide this notice to us, along with the rest of your 2020 tax documents.
