CRANSTON, R.I. — December 18, 2019

CRANSTON, R.I. — December 18, 2019 — In recognition of its commitment to giving back to the communities it serves, blumshapiro, the largest regional business advisory firm in New England, was recently one of just four companies in Rhode Island to earn a 2019 Common Good Award from Rhode Island Monthly.

Presented by the Rhode Island Foundation, the Rhode Island Monthly Common Good Awards recognize Rhode Island businesses of all sizes that inspire philanthropy among their employees around the state. According to the publication, the awards aim to highlight businesses who not only provide financial support to local organizations, but also “encourage staff to go into the community and help.”

“We are extremely proud to accept this honor, and we thank Rhode Island Monthly and the Rhode Island Foundation for recognizing us,” said Luke Ebersold, Rhode Island office managing partner, blumshapiro. “Whether they’re volunteering their time teaching financial literacy in Cranston’s public schools, or simply taking the day to help clean up a park, our employees always go out of their way to give back to the local community. Community service is part of our culture, and I am proud to work alongside our tremendously generous staff.”

blumshapiro was selected as a winner in the “medium-sized” company category, representing businesses with 50-249 employees. Selected among dozens of applicants, blumshapiro was one of only four winners in Rhode Island.

Throughout 2019, more than 80% of blumshapiro’s employees in its Rhode Island office participated in at least one of dozens of company-sponsored community service outings, such as the International Coastal Clean-Up presented by Save the Bay; the Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Newport; and the Best Buddies Friendship Walk in Pawtucket.

Plus, the $eeds for $uccess Financial Literacy Program – blumshapiro’s signature philanthropic initiative – graduated its second class of local students from Cranston East and Cranston West High Schools back in May. A comprehensive, semester-long curriculum written and taught by blumshapiro volunteers, the $eeds for $uccess Financial Literacy Program has served more than 70 students between the two participating schools since its launch in 2018.
